New Balance Boys Power Rankings Week 7

With only a few major meets this past week and many teams taking the weekend off, our girls’ and boys’ rankings remain mostly static. This week is the calm before the storm as many league championships take place over the next seven days. A lot of these meets will provide our final look at many teams before the Divisional State Championships.

For the boys, Catholic Memorial moves up two spots into 11th after finishing as the top Massachusetts team at the Catholic Memorial Invite. Their top five averaged 16:47 over the Franklin Park course. They currently sit as our #2 team out of Division 1C, where they’ll look to usurp Reading on the podium. But first, they have the Catholic Conference Championships today in Wrentham.

That race also features #5 Boston College High School and #6 Saint John’s Prep. This will be one of the best battles over the next week and a great preview of Division 1A as both teams will return to Wrentham for that as well. While Saint John’s Prep has had some impressive victories this season, BC High won decisively in their dual meet at Franklin Park.

Speaking of League Championships, the Tri-Valley League Championships took place this past Saturday with Hopkinton winning with a score of 40 over Ashland. Sean Finnegan through down the third fastest time in the state this season, running 15:11. They slot in at #20 this week. They’re another team from 1C that could make a run for the podium in November.

Keep an eye out this week as we cover League Championships as their results come in.
