New Balance Girls Power Rankings Week 6

A big weekend of action means a lot of results to comb through. While most of the attention went to Twilight and Devens, there was also out of state competition with Wickham Park and the Manhattan Invitational. Let’s dive in.

Fast times may have grabbed the headlines, but there were some strong team performances as well. Unlike the boy’s rankings, there wasn’t any movement at the top. #2 and #3 Westford Academy and Billerica had strong performances on Saturday, but not enough to dethrone Lexington. However, our #1 team faces #4 Winchester in a dual meet this week. Stay tuned for that!

Newton North and Concord Carlisle make moves after big days at Twilight. North has toggled back and forth this season with their Bay State Conference counterpart Needham. Saturday night, the Tigers got the best of them and move into our #5 spot. They’re top five broke 20 minutes and were led by dynamic duo Maggie Abely and Etsy Dudnik running 18:28. The Bay State Conference meet is 10/25, so mark that on your calendar. The Concord-Carlisle Girls continue to climb our rankings as they look to join their boys’ team on the podium in November. They finished fourth with 156 points, topping Needham and Rhode Island power North Kingstown.

Boston Latin Academy makes the biggest move after winning the medium school race, coming in at #10. Their top five all ran PRS as they narrowly edged Canton by one point. Canton debuts after cementing themselves as a contender in division two. Junior Lauren Raffetto has grabbed most of the headlines this season, but the Canton girls appear here to stay.

Hamilton-Wenham debuts at #11 after starting the season on our preseason rankings. This weekend was our first good look at their team, and they did not disappoint. They finished runner up to Winchester at the Devens Pre Championship Classic. Their top two runners Grace Rich and Asa Labell finished in the top five.

Notre Dame Academy showed they’re for real at Twilight and come in at #17. After some blazing times at dual meets, they backed those performances up with a seventh-place finish in the large schools race. Keep an eye on Claire Sullivan, who ran 18:50 as just an eighth grader.

Hampshire makes their long-awaited debut at #19. They won the Ted Dutkiewics Invite back in September and finished runner up to Division Three power Norwell on Saturday. They’ll look to claim the Western Mass Championship in a couple weeks’ time.
