The field was strong, the weather ideal, and Greg McGrath was flawless. All the stars aligned for Saturday’s inaugural Devens Pre-Championship Classic, where the Boston College High senior delivered a performance as brilliant as the conditions at Willard Park. Taking control from the gun, McGrath cruised to a dominating victory in the Championship race, clocking 15 minutes 21.47 seconds for the five-kilometer course. Michael Mohoric of Newburyport claimed runner-up honors in 15:49.66.

With just an 18-second spread among its top five, Concord-Carlisle captured the team title with 45 points, 16 ahead of second-place Cambridge Rindge & Latin. The top-ranked Patriots averaged an impressive 16:06 for their scorers.
It turned into a runaway victory in the girls’ race as well. Much like her counterpart, Cambridge Rindge & Latin’s Sophia Juanes-Seto was never challenged, breezing to a 30-second win in 18:26.76. Hamilton-Wenham’s Grace Rich finished second at 18:57.93.

Fueled by top-10 finishes from freshman Millie McDonald (sixth, 19:55.46) and Caroline Lenz (seventh, 20:00.17), Winchester took the team hardware, defeating second-place Hamilton-Wenham, 71–108.
