Boys #12 Catholic Memorial falls to Xaverian, 25-31
Franklin Park was host to another Catholic Conference battle yesterday, as #14 Catholic Memorial faced Xaverian. The Hawks were able to get the upset, led by a surging Jack Weintraub, who got the win over Catholic Memorials Michael Upton, 17:10 to 17:15. In his first season on the trails for the Hawks, the 800m speedster is adapting well.
Upton was followed by teammate Gerard Stock in third. Xaverian’s Marco Petrino, Samuel Keith, and Desmond Sullivan, finished in order to help secure the win. Catholic Memorial will be in action this weekend at the Bay State Invitational at Wrentham, while Xaverian will head down to Rhode Island for the Ocean State Invitational.
#6 Saint John’s Prep defeats Malden Catholic, 19-44
After a strong showing at the Frank Kelly Invitational this past weekend, Saint John’s Prep traveled to Malden to face their conference rival. Junior Dimitri Profis of Saint John’s Prep got the win in 18:24, his first of the season. Malden Catholics Paul Harrington was second in 18:31, to lead his team and break up the Eagles.
Saint John’s Prep heads to Rhode Island for the Ocean State Invitational this weekend.
#5 Boston College High School tops Saint John’s Shrewsbury, 17-39
The Eagles were back in action at Franklin Park yesterday. Top Contender Greg McGrath took the win in 16:40 and was followed by three more eagles in the top four. Colin Kurtz, Theo Weiss, and Joseph Hayes ran between 17:07 and 17:36. Holden Halle and Conor Chabot of Saint John’s ran 17:52 and 18:03 to break up the Eagles.
Both teams head down to Rhode Island for the Ocean State Invitational, but it doesn’t appear that the Eagles are running their Varsity Team.
