While only a junior, Patrick Noonan has already built an impressive career running for Lexington and Waltham Track Club. In 2023 as just an eighth grader, he ran 4:35 for the mile. The previous fall in 2022, he won the USATF Region 1 Junior Olympic Championships and went on to finish fourth at the National Junior Olympic Championships.
He burst onto the scene for Lexington in 2023 when he finished 14th at the Meet of Champions as just a freshman. Last season he ran a PR of 15:24 at the Middlesex League Championships and would finish 18th at the Meet of Champions. Noonan heads into this season as the fifth fastest returner from the Division 1 race. While he may have slipped a few spots from 2023 to 2024, there’s plenty of reason to keep an eye on Noonan this fall.
Not only did he run PRs across the board from 800m up to Two Miles this spring, he finished the season on a high note, running 4:18 at the Adrian Martinez Classic, joining a small group of ten runners returning that have run under 4:20. He also set a PR of 9:29 to finish runner up at the Middlesex League Championships, once again putting himself in a small group that returns having run under 9:30.
A lot could be in store for Noonan this season. He leads #3 Lexington as they will make a strong push for the team crown at the Meet of Champions come November. He’s the number two returner from the Middlesex League, and as previously mentioned, the number five returner from Meet of Champs. All this points to a big season for the experienced junior, where he will fight to put himself among the Bay State’s very best this fall.
