Runners to Watch: Monument Mountain Regional’s Everett Pacheco

Everett Pacheco of Monument Mountain Regional returns looking for his second straight Division Three crown. After finishing 10th as a sophomore, Pacheco would win this past fall in 16:09, a time that ranks fourth out of all returning runners from the Meet of Champions. The course at Willard Field appears to suit him well. After finishing runner up at the Division 3B race at Wrentham, Pacheco would come back the following week and secure the win on the same course he’ll run at the Meet of Champs this season.

His Cross Country 5K PR is 15:30 from the Western Mass Championships at Stanley Park. However, Pacheco holds a 5000m PR of 15:04 from the New Balance Indoor Championships on the track. The success continued outdoors where he ran PRS of 4:16 in the mile, and 9:09 for 3200m at the Glenn Loucks Games. He had wins in the mile in both the Division Six Championship and the Weston Twilight Meet.

After proving his speed on the track, Pacheco should make another big jump this fall. Sub 16 is surely in the cards when he returns to Fort Devens. This year he’ll run both the Meet of Champs and the Division 3 Championship at Fort Devens, so perhaps we’ll see him chase a fast 5K at an earlier meet. The Western Mass Championships at Stanley Park could be the site of another PR for him. Could he take down his track PR? Based off his times this spring, that’s in the cards this fall for sure.
