Preseason Girls #2: Billerica

2. Billerica

Billerica won the Division 1C race last season by 29 points with a team made up of freshmen and sophomores. That same squad finished fourth at the Meet of Champions the following week. How good can that team be this year?

The Indians will be on a quest for the Team Title at the Meet of Champs this season. They match up well with anyone. Up front is Gianna McGowan who has the top 5K PR at 18:11. However this fall, she should have company. Caitlyn and Kylie Donahue had tremendous Track seasons running 10:58 and 11:08. And it doesn’t stop there as Hartlie Siegal ran 11:02. If you’re keeping up, Billerica has four girls that have run 11:08 or faster. Now this isn’t a track meet, but if that group can translate their success on the oval to the Cross-Country course, they may be too much to overcome for anyone.

Billerica has even more depth with Madelyn LaRosa, 19:28, and Anna Rossini, 19:31, coming back as well. Emma Ausilio was their fourth runner at Divisionals and fifth at Meet of Champions and ran her PR of 20:10 on Northfield Mountain. Anyone of them could easily crack into that top four.

How do you beat this team? That’s a great question. We don’t know, but perhaps the final team on our list will have the answer.
