Preseason Boys #7: Saint John’s Prep

7. Saint John’s Prep

Saint John’s Prep may not have the firepower up front as some of the other contenders on our list, but they make up for it with strength of pack. Top returner Liam Mahoney is the only runner with a sub 16 PR to his name, but from two to five they have a spread of 16:18 to 16:47.

What makes the eagles an interesting contender is that they saw strong performances this spring from runners farther back in the pack last fall. Henry McDonnell hovered around their top seven with a 16:40 5K, but after a massive outdoor season he could challenge for their top spot. McDonnell ran 4:23 and 9:32 for the One and Two Mile and should be looking to lower that PR considerably. Based off track times, he could very well be their top runner this fall. John McIntosh ran 4:31 and 9:39 last spring as well and will challenge for the top spot.

Also watch out for Oliver Hawes and Colton Hayhurst to challenge for top 5-7 for the Eagles. Saint John’s Prep’s biggest strength is their depth. They may wind up with a completely different top seven than what we have below, which makes them one of the top teams to look out for this fall.
