9. Wellesley
Perennial power Wellesley cracks out top ten to start the season. After narrowly winning the Bay State Conference in 2024, they’re led this year by star duo Emma and Madeline Tuxbury. Both ran under 19:00 minutes at the conference meet last season to help top Needham. They followed that up with top five performances at the Division 1B race. Madeline accomplished that all as just a freshman.
Abbey Beggans and Madeleine Coggins both ran just over 20 minutes last season and will fill their three and four spots. They were 31st and 27th at the conference meet. As just a freshmen Coggins followed that up with a 5:26 Mile indoors and the Raiders will hope she can translate that success to the XC course.
As mentioned before, the Bay State Conference is one of the toughest in the state and repeating as champs will be tough. They’ll need a strong five runner, and they should get that out of Sofia Wood. Also watch out for Jolie Chen who was second in the Junior Varsity Race at the Bay State Invitational last season.
