13. Longmeadow
After winning the Meet of Champions Division 2 race and graduating their top three runners, one would think Longmeadow was poised for a down year. Maybe they thought they were two, but the ascension of some of their younger runners may get them back on the podium. Ethan Halpern was their top runner at the Meet of Champions as a junior last season and comes back hoping to replicate the incredible pack running that Longmeadow exhibited last season.
Jacob Abebe had a strong freshmen season in the fall, but he reached another level outdoors, running 4:28 for the mile. He wasn’t the only freshmen to break out either. CJ Deliso cracked 10 minutes running 9:53. Between the three of them, the Lancers will have a similar top three compared to last season.
The full scope of their depth was on display at the Western Mass XC Championships where they won both Varsity and Junior Varsity Races. Overall, Longmeadow has five runners returning with 5K PRs under 17 minutes.
