14. Newton North
Newton North is another strong team built on depth. With four runners coming back under 17 and another two just over, they have a lot of upside heading into the fall. If someone can make a big jump this season at their number one spot, they could climb the rankings as well.
Max Badri is their top returning runner. He was 28th at the Baystate Conference Meet last year with Junior Will Keneally just a few spots back. To compete at the top of the Conference, they will need to get closer to, or ideally in, the top 10.
They’ll get help from incoming Sophomore Lucas Allen and Junior Quinn Connors. They were far down their depth chart last season in XC, but after going 4:38 and 4:36 this outdoor season, expect a big improvement on the grass and trails. The Bay State Conference features three more teams on this list, so Newton North will be tested early and often.
