20. Lowell
We start our list with the squad from Lowell. When you think of the Red Raiders, their excellent 4x800m relay last season may come to mind. However, they also return solid depth on the cross country course having seven runners coming back that have all run under 17:46. Up front they will be led by James Kelly, who will look to make a sizable jump from his 17th place at the Meet of Champions after a strong outdoor campaign where he ran 4:23 and 9:28.
Number two runner Timothy Schribman should also make a solid jump this year: after running 17:04 at Franklin Park, he followed that up with a 4:34 Mile outdoors. The key for Lowell will be their depth. They lost three runners form their team that finished sixth at the Division 1A race last year. If they can get the rest of their squad under 17 minutes for 5K they will be a formidable foe come November. Helping Lowell’s cause is that two of their returning runners, Charlie Mirabel and Even Cohen, ran their PRs on the challenging course at Willard Field, where this year’s Meet of Champions will be held.
