Division 4 Titles Belong To Pembroke & Holliston

Pembroke and Holliston went home with the banners on Saturday, taking the respective boys’ and girls’ titles at the MIAA Division 4 Championships.

Highlighted by a strong presence in the sprints, the Titans coasted to a 74-47 victory over second-place Ludlow. Pembroke scored more than a third of its points in the 300-meter dash with a 1-2-3 finish by Gabe Lamar (first, 35.05 seconds), Luke Lamar (second, 35.64) and Jayden Leonard (third, 35.70). Leonard also claimed the 55m dash (6.57) with Gabe Lamar taking fourth (6.66). The tandem were also part of their team’s first-place 4x200m relay (1:31.17), along with Kyle Tracy and Luke Lamar. Casey Motta had a top finish in the 1,000m for Pembroke with a runner-up finish (2:41.71).

Ludlow’s Logan Walsh had a big day, Individually, he was a double winner, capturing the mile in 4:24.73 and the 1K in 2:41.05. He also ran a leg on his school’s triumphant 4x800m that combined for a time of 8:27.92.

Holliston collected three victories for the day in the girls’ meet. Senior Kaitlyn Quealy broke the tape in the 300m, Fellow classmate Maggie Kuchman earned two gold medals by taking the 1,000m (3:02.22) and the mile (5:09.46). She also ran a leg on her team’s second-place 4x800m (10:12.39) squad.

Newburyport teammates Morgan Felts (1:36.11) and Devin Stroope (1:36.78) went 1-2 in the 600m. The Clipper duo also ran legs on the winning 4x400m (4:11.18) relay with Penelope Fuentes and Emily Homer.

Whitinsville Christian’s Emily Flagg dominated the two mile, winning the race by 50 seconds with a time of 11:05.02.

Zoe Santos of Norton held off a strong effort by Nauset’s Violet Roche in the high jump with both clearing 5-4.

Cardinal Spellman leaped 18-2.5 to capture the long jump.
