The Boston Holiday Challenge will include a full slate of events as well as a few extras not commonly run during the regular season, such as the 200m, 400m, 800m, SMR and pole vault.

For the boys, Brockton’s Lucas Andrade is the top seed in three events, the 55m (6.46 seconds), 55m hurdles (7.37) and the high jump (6 feet, 8 inches).

Look for an exciting race in the 300m dash where Winchester’s Daniel Killian is the No. 1 seed with a best of 34.82. Killian is matched up again sub-36 guys, Garrett Giroux Pezzullo of La Salle Academy (RI), who has a seed of 35.25, and Shrewsbury’s Anthony Graves, who has a best of 35.87.

Peabody’s Alex Jackson should be making some noise in the throwing events. The talented senior holds the top seed in the shot (66 feet, 6.25 inches) and the weight throw (70-4).

Snowden International’s Rick Barros leads seven runners under 23 seconds in the 200m with his top seed of 21.93 from the USATF Region 1 Junior Olympic Championships last spring.

Could we have a 23-foot effort in the long jump? It could happen. Atlantis Charter’s Thalys Silva came less than two inches from the mark at last week’s Sprint Classic, and he’s in the field as the No. 1 seed this weekend with a best of 22-10.25.

For the girls, the 55m dash could certainly come down to a lean at the finish. Methuen’s Lauren Quarm, the defending state 55m champion, is the No. 1 seed with her best of 6.95 from the Meet of Champions. There’s also Natick’s Emmanuella Edozian of Natick, who’s the No. 3 seed with a top time 7.20 from last weekend’s Beantown Winter Classic. Edozian is also ranked No. 1 in the 55m hurdles with her PR of 8.22 from Beantown.

The 300m could certainly create some electricity and a few sub-40s on New Balance’s fast oval. The top runner is Reading’s gifted (and versatile) senior Giuliana Ligor. She owns the top seed with her best of 40.11 from her victory at the Div. 5 Championships last winter. Ligor is coming off an outdoor season where she captured the 400m (55.62) and the 400m hurdles (58.97) at the Meet of Champions. Two others in this race have also broken 41 seconds, which should set up a race that will be determined in the final few meters.

We could have several under three minutes in the 1,000m. The top seed is Weymouth’s Gracie Richard, who has already broken the mark with a PR of 2:59.62. Right behind is teammate Isabella Galusha at 3:00.43. Nauset Regional’s Madeline Mahoney is also in the race. She brings a best of 3:00.64 to the line.

Attleboro’s Emilia Smith (10:58.54) and Whitinsville Christian’s Emily Flagg (11:05.53) are the two and three seeds in the two mile. The No. 1 seed in Kiley DeFusco of Cumberland (RI), who has a best of 10:55.16. This event should be competitive right down to the final lap.
