One thing was clear at Sunday’s Manhattan College Invitational.
No one was beating Christian Brothers Academy (NJ) in the featured Eastern States Championship race. The Colts, the nation’s No. 2 ranked team, proved that at historic Van Cortlandt Park. All five of their scoring runners placed in the top eight to easily claim the title with a ridiculously-low 25 points.
With that being said, Boston College High had to like the results for their team finish at one of the region’s finest competition. A six-runner tiebreaker was the difference between Haddonfield Memorial and the Eagles, the 2-3 finishers with identical scores of 176 points.
BC High had three of its runners finish in the top 20 with junior Greg McGrath leading the charge with a sixth-place finish and time of 12 minutes, 44.5 seconds for the 2.5-mile course. Senior John Wilson was 11th in 12:54. Not too far behind in 18th overall was sophomore Shamus Larnard with a time of 13:02.2. Colin Kurtz (38th, 13:27.8) and sophomore Theo Weiss (106th, 14:15.5) completed the scoring.
Bay State Running will add to this story.
