HOKA Athletes Of The Week: Falmouth’s Silas Gartner & CB&L’s Aoife Shovlin

The Wrentham Developmental Center, site of several of our statewide competitions during the cross-country season, had its inaugural meet of the fall campaign this past weekend with the annual Frank Kelley Invitational. What better way to begin our featured HOKA Athletes of the Week for 2024-25?

For this week’s honor, we’d select Falmouth’s Silas Gartner and Cambridge Rindge & Latin’s Aoife Shovlin, the respective boys’ and girls’ winners in the Championship race at the Kelley Invite. Both harriers achieved PRs on the five-kilometer layout at Wrentham. Gartner broke the tape in 15 minutes, 30.72 seconds, just under 12 ticks ahead of second-place Daniel Bronstein (15:42.10). Shovlin, the two-time defending Division 1 titlist, clocked the second sub-18 performance of her high school career with a gun-to-wire victory and time of 17:54.49. She also was slightly below 12 seconds in front of her next rival, Oxford sophomore Cameron Davis (18:06.51).
