It was yet another eventful season for our MA track & field athletes. Throughout the summer months, Bay State Running will feature some of our most memorable performances during the outdoor campaign. Here we feature Nashoba Regionbal’s Adam Balewicz.
Just like 2023, it was a big year for boys’ two mile. This past spring, we had four runners break nine minutes and five more dip under 9:10. While he would run faster at the Meet of Champions a month later, we’re putting Balewicz’s performance at the Weston Twilight Invitational here. It was at the May 4 meet where the Nashoba senior became our first runner to crack the nine-minute barrier for the deuce, claiming the individual title with a triumphant 8:59.79. His effort earned him a seven-second victory over Oliver Ames’ Brendan Thomas and, at the time, ranked No. 3 in the country. The Wolves’ standout would finish off his senior season in his specialty by capturing the Div. 4 crown and placing third (PR, 8:56.95) at the Meet of Champions. He capped off his year by taking ninth (PR, 14:53.36) in the 5,000 meter run at the New Balance Nationals.
