Memorable Moments, 2024: O’Hare-Gibson Lowers 400m IH Record At NB Nationals

It was yet another eventful season for our MA track & field athletes. Throughout the summer months, Bay State Running will feature some of our most memorable performances during the outdoor campaign. Here we feature Lexington’s McKenna O’Hare-Gibson.

With five athletes under 55 seconds this season, the 400-meter hurdles was an event that was collectively the best this state has ever seen. While he wasn’t able to match up with MA’s elite at the Meet of Champions, the Minutemen’s O’Hare-Gibson proved to be the fastest of them all this season, and with an added bonus. That bonus was a new state record, which the talented hurdler and Division 1 titlist achieved at the New Balance Nationals. O’Hare Gibson earned All-American honors inside historic Franklin Field in mid June by placing fifth overall with a time of 52.85 seconds. With that effort, he erased his previous state mark of 53.19 from the divisional states. He also became the only MA hurdler to ever break 53 seconds in the event.
