HOKA Athletes Of The Week: Norwell’s Liliana MacDonald & Ludlow’s Logan Walsh

The MIAA Division State Championships are on the slate this week, beginning on Thursday. As been evident over the last month, several of our athletes appear ready for some big performances this weekend, including our latest HOKA Athletes of the Week. Congratulations to Norwell’s Liliana MacDonald and Ludlow’s Logan Walsh, our respective female and male recipients for this week’s honor.

The versatile MacDonald was the star of the day on her home turf this past weekend at the South Shore Twilight Invitational. The Norwell senior left Saturday’s competition with three gold medals and a pair of meet records. MacDonald established her new meet marks by leaping 38 feet, 10 inches in the triple jump and 17-10 in the long jump. She was also victorious in the 100-meter hurdles where she was timed in 16.05 seconds.

The Lions’ Walsh was a double winner at the WMass Division 1 Championships on Saturday with victories in the mile and the 800m. The talented junior’s most impressive performance came in the 800m where he clocked a state-leading time of 1:54.33, a PR by more than two seconds. Walsh’s previous best was 1:56.48 from the BSR Mid-Distance Classic on April 19. The Ludlow standout won the mile in the D1 meet with a solid time of 4:30.89, nearly four seconds ahead of his closest rival.
