At the New England Championships this past weekend, several of our athletes proved they’re among the region’s best. For this week’s HOKA Athletes of the Week, we’re choosing two of them. Congratulations to Brockton’s Lucas Andrade and Norton’s Zoe Santos, our respective boys’ and girls’ recipients of this week’s honor.

Throughout the season, Andrade has been one of MA’s best in the 55-meter hurdles. Once he took over the state lead with his victory and previous best of 7.52 seconds at the Division 1 Championships, the talented senior never looked back. A week after winning the individual title at the Meet of Champions, Andrade was first once again in his specialty at the New England’s with a PR of 7.37.
Like Andrade, Santos saved her best for last at this past weekend’s competition. The Lancers’ senior won her first individual crown in the high jump at the MOC on Feb. 24 where she leaped a four-inch PR of 5-8. Proving that performance was no fluke, Santos nearly matched her best at the New England’s, taking runner-up honors by clearing 5-7.
