With a slippery track and consistent rainfall, the conditions weren’t exactly ideal for a track & field meet on Saturday. Yet several braved the elements and headed to Norwell High for the annual MSTCA South Shore Twilight Meet. It was there that our male recipient of this week’s HOKA Male Athlete of the Week walked away as our only double-winner at the nighttime event.
Congratulations to Weymouth’s Brandon Riley for this week’s honor. Riley earned gold in both the 110-meter hurdles and the long jump at South Shore. In the hurdles, the Wildcats’ senior was timed in 15.20 seconds, winning the event by a quarter of a second over runner-up Jacob Kalgren of Ayer Shirley. For the long jump, Riley leaped a distance of 21 feet, 7 inches, matching the effort of Braintree’s Jovian Martino.
